Bowflex As A Laundry Hanger
(Brighton, CO USA)
I got the Bowflex Ultimate 2 home gym several years ago when I was looking to get into better shape. I honestly have to say, that I never used it more than a handful of times, and just ended up buying a bunch of free weights instead.
While the premise behind the Bowflex seems good, it is a pain to change the settings to do the lifts you want to do. There are a lot of cables and pulleys, and they have to be hooked up just so in order to do the exercise you want to do. I found it annoying and frustrating.
I also found it difficult to put on the weight that you want to lift. The "bows" come in weights in several different sizes. If you want to lift 30 lbs per side, you have to find a 20 lb bow, and a 10 lb bow. If you want to lift 35 lbs, you have to find the 20, the 10, and a 5 for both sides. It can take you right out of your groove when you are working out to change things around to switch exercises.
My Bowflex home gym got much more use as a place to hang laundry after ironing, and a place to set my computer while I was working out on the elliptical or using the free weights. It just didn't cut it for me, and I am not willing to recommend the Bowflex system to anybody else who is looking to get into shape.
